What we’re about

Out of the Box Learning is now live with enormous thanks to funding and support from Arts Council England and North Yorkshire Council – as well as to the sites that have contributed! We believe that by all working together, we can take huge steps towards supporting place-based, object-based learning for everyone.

Get involved – share your objects

We’re passionate about helping people find their local heritage, so if you spot an object on our site that you’ve got at the museum, gallery or heritage site that you work in, we’ll be very happy to add your object too without charge – whether that’s stoneware bottles, trench art, or a Roman brooch. You just need to make sure you’ve got the permissions in place to share it.

If you work at a heritage site and would like to see your objects featured on Out of the Box Learning, we’d love to hear from you. We can discuss different ways for your objects to feature.

Get involved – share your views

Out of the Box Learning is being built with active consultation with people in the community. We love to hear your views and interests so that we tailor the objects we share to the needs of the community.

We’re committed to supporting people to access their local heritage and find meaningful ways to connect with it through talk.

If you’re a teacher or community group leader, including in reminiscence settings, we’re always keen to hear from you. Get in touch to share your views, let us know what you’d like to see featured or provide feedback.

Within schools, we can also talk to staff about ways to use the website and the powers of object-based learning.
